Getting started
How do I start a gift exchange?
Create an account, then tap + → Create Group. Set a spending limit and exchange date (and, if you like, a time, place, and notes), then tap Invite Friends to send the invite link.
How do I tell everyone where and when to meet?
The organizer opens the group and taps Add Time, Place & Notes (or ⋯ → Edit Group). Members see the details at the top of the group, can tap the place to open it in Maps, and get a notification when anything changes.
How do I join a group?
Tap the invite link the organizer sent you, or open the app and tap + → Join with Code and enter the 6-character code.
I didn't get the verification email.
Check your spam or junk folder. On the verify screen, tap Resend Email, or Use a Different Email if there was a typo.
I forgot my password.
On the sign-in screen, enter your email and tap Forgot Password? to get a reset link.
Drawing names
Who can draw names?
Only the organizer (the person who created the group), once at least 3 people have joined. Nobody can join or leave after names are drawn.
Can I make sure couples don't draw each other?
Yes. Before the draw, the organizer can open Exclusions in the group and add pairs who shouldn't draw each other.
The app says the draw is impossible.
Too many exclusions can leave no valid way to draw names, especially in small groups (in a group of 3, any exclusion makes it impossible). Remove some exclusions or add more people.
Can anyone see who I drew?
No, not even the organizer. Names are drawn on our server, and you only see who you're buying for. The organizer can reveal everyone's Secret Santa on or after the exchange day.
Wish lists and messages
How do I add gift ideas?
Open the group and tap Your Wish List. Each group has its own list, so ideas can match each group's spending limit.
What's About Me?
Optional answers on your Profile, like your sizes, favorite brands, activities, and colors. Everyone in your groups can see them, so whoever draws you has ideas even beyond your wish list. They show in every group, so you only fill them in once.
Why do Amazon links look different when I open them?
Jolly Draw adds its Amazon Associates tag to Amazon.com links. As an Amazon Associate, Jolly Draw earns from qualifying purchases. It costs you nothing extra, and it's how the app stays free.
Is there a group chat?
Yes. Open the group and tap Group Chat to plan with everyone: where to meet, what to bring, or a theme. Unlike Ask Your Person, it shows everyone's name, so don't use it to drop hints about who you drew! To stop its notifications, tap ⋯ → Mute Notifications.
How do anonymous questions work?
After the draw, tap Ask Your Person to message who you're buying for. They see the message as coming from "Your Secret Santa" and can reply without knowing who you are.
I'm not getting notifications.
Make sure notifications are allowed for Jolly Draw in your iPhone's Settings → Notifications.
Safety
Someone sent me something inappropriate.
Long-press the message and tap Report Message. To stop an anonymous conversation, tap ⋯ → Block Chat in that chat. In the group chat, long-press a message to report it or block its sender; you won't see their group chat messages anymore. You can also report a group from its ⋯ menu, or report or block a member from their profile. Unblock people in Profile → Blocked Members.
Can the organizer remove messages?
Yes. The organizer can long-press any group chat message and delete it for everyone. Anyone can delete their own messages.
What happens after I report something?
Reports go only to us, never to the person you reported. We review every report within 24 hours and remove content or accounts that break our Terms of Use.
Your account
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and data, and any groups you organize. See the Privacy Policy for details.
